RC Surfers

I put up a pic of my rc surfers. The middle one is Lee. On the left is a "Surfer King" I got a great deal on and they aren't made anymore. The one on the right is a "Kelly Slater RC Surfer" that is very rare and collectible (Kelly Slater died of dengue fever recently). I currently am selling it on Ebay for $450 and I paid $35 for it. Just a little investment to pay for my hobby.

Gaining strength ....and weight :-/

I am now walking around without help from a walker or cane. I lost my cane so I guess that I do not need it. I want to thank Pat for loaning me the walker and the commode. Necessary items for a while. Still wearing the turtle shell body brace until May. Met with the spine doc yesterday and he was pleased with my recovery and said I was a poster boy for surgery. He said I could now drive a car ( I have already been driving my motorcycle for over a month) and said I could go without my shell around the house, which I already do. It seemed that my low back strength would not improve well with the shell on and holding me up.

I was 160 pounds when I got out of the hospital. I managed to gain ten pounds during my 2 week stay at the nursing home. I just weighed in at 195 pounds! Oh crap I need to curb my recent high school boy appetite!!! I did not eat much at the hospital. I forced myself to clean my plate at the nursing home, green coolaid, mushy vegetables and all. I used extra pepper for flavor.
I suppose that some of the weight is muscle. My legs were so skinny and weak before. Now I am fairly steady. I have to keep an eye where my feet are going so do not trip on something and make a face plant. Still cannot stand with my eyes closed without going off balance. From my belly button down I have regained about 30-40% of my feeling and decent circulation. My feet are still very numb but I can wiggle my toes and move ankles in all directions. Just started being able to raise my legs enough to march. Feet are swollen.

Hobby wise...to pass some time I play with my RC airplanes and surfers. I can hardly wait to take my highly modified surfer to the beach! I will put a picture on the side bar of "Lee" the surfer. Originally a NQL brand "Lisa", I gave the surfer a sex change, a lowered stance, and reversed the footing from goofy foot. Added a big watercooled brushless motor that makes it go good and fast.
Flying the my EPP foam stunt plane (that Thea got me as a sort of boredom pacifier) around the field next door having a blast. I exercised the neighbor's little chihuahua dog with it recently by flying 3-4 feet off the ground real slowly as she chased it for probably 30 laps.

Thanks for stopping by
